About the role

The Fleet Dispatcher plays a pivotal role in managing the logistics operations of the company’s assets in an over-the-road (OTR) environment. This position demands strategic thinking, operational expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of efficiency and compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily dispatching of OTR trucks, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement standardization initiatives that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) for strategic planning and optimization of resources.
  • Lead and manage various transportation projects and initiatives concurrently, driving innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA safety regulations, particularly focusing on hours of service (HOS) compliance.
  • Develop and monitor key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction in the supply chain.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal motor carrier safety and environmental regulations.
  • Utilize cross-dock and warehouse operations knowledge to optimize logistics processes.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills in coordinating with internal teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Proficiently use industry load boards such as DAT, Truckstop, and others to secure and manage loads.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting.

 

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in business, supply chain, distribution centers, or logistics.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet strict timelines.
  • Knowledge of transportation equipment such as tractors and trailers preferred.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service, confidentiality, reliability, and organization.
  • Proven ability to manage concurrent projects and multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Expertise in truckload planning, synchronization, demand planning, forecasting, pricing, and revenue management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with customers and vendors to achieve operational goals.
  • Proficiency in business audit processes and strong technical skills.
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, as well as geography.
